By creating an account or using CiteLyra you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. The service

CiteLyra is a research drafting and evidence-assistance workspace. It uses AI to produce draft research papers, theses, and dissertations and checks citation metadata against academic databases. CiteLyra is not an autonomous author and is not a way to submit generated work without review.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and able to form a binding contract. You are responsible for your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it current.

3. Acceptable use

Your use must comply with our Acceptable Use Policy. You must not use CiteLyra to fabricate research, impersonate authorship, violate academic-integrity or publisher policies, infringe intellectual property, or break the law.

4. Academic integrity (important)

Generated material is a draft requiring human review. Citation existence does not prove that a cited source supports a claim. You are solely responsible for verifying citations, quotations, facts, methodology, and conclusions, and for complying with your institution's and any publisher's rules on AI assistance and authorship.

5. Credits, payment, and refunds

• Access is purchased as credits. Each generation consumes credits by document type; a failed or cancelled generation refunds its reservation.
• Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the Merchant of Record and seller for the transaction and handles billing and applicable taxes. Their terms also apply to your purchase.
• Credits have no cash value and are non-transferable. Refund requests are handled per our published refund approach and applicable consumer law; contact [SUPPORT EMAIL].

6. Your content and ownership

You retain ownership of the inputs you provide. As between you and us, you own the drafts generated for you, subject to third-party rights in any sources. You grant us the limited rights needed to operate the service (e.g. to process your input through AI and search providers and to store your artifacts). We do not claim authorship of your drafts.

7. AI and third-party providers

To generate a draft we send your topic and related content to AI, search, and citation providers, and we store artifacts with a hosting/storage provider. See the Privacy Policy and Subprocessors for who they are and what they receive.

8. Availability, changes, and suspension

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, and may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or create risk. We aim to provide reasonable notice of material changes.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that drafts are accurate, complete, original, or suitable for submission.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for academic, professional, or reputational consequences of using generated drafts. Our aggregate liability is limited to the amounts you paid in the [12] months preceding the claim. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the service or violation of these Terms or applicable law.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [GERMANY / JURISDICTION], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Courts of [JURISDICTION/CITY] have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence.
